1st Grade Math

Are you ready for Grade 1 Math?: Math levels have changed over the past few years to higher levels. What was taught in 1st Grade 20 to 30 years ago is now taught in Kindergarten to stay competitive with other countries.
In the last century, Kindergarten was colors, counting to 20, how to tie shoes, learning to write their name and very basic information. Some parents sent their children to school with no preparation, expecting them to learn everything in school.
Today, Kindergarten covers counting to 100, basic addition to 10, and the other topics I list in this video.
Some students will fall behind if their parents think they can start 1st Grade without a strong Kindergarten program and knowledge of these concepts. They'll begin the school year behind the other students, may have difficulty catching up, or may never catch up.
The first 5 years of a child's life is the most crucial. If they learn to enjoy books, pay attention, be inquisitive, imaginative, they will have an enjoyable school experience.
Welcome to 1st Grade!
